How was your summer with God?

The last two weeks Chris and Lydia have shared about what God has been teaching them this summer. Now it’s time to hear from the rest of you Pearlers. What has God been teaching you this summer?

Hey, I have time for a quick blog:
Personally, I’ve felt God’s blessing this summer.
I got married to Joyce and feel like that is a great gift from God. After getting done with the wedding and settling into life again, I am starting to feel excited about doing God’s work again. I know this is short and a little bit vague but that’s all I have for now.
    YYYYYYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

    Hi everybody!
I went home this summer after my first year here in Taiwan. All my life I have been surrounded by family and friends as support. Because of that and personally lethargy, I had not developed a real day-to-day personal relationship with God. This past year in Taipei, I had to develop my relationship with the King of Kings, because I had no one else. When I went back home I was able to share at my church on the last Sunday. I hadn’t even planned on saying this, but I told the congregation, “Don’t wait until you are 30, to reap the benefits of something ( a deeper relationship with Christ) that you’ve known about since you were two.” I know not everybody at The Pearl was raised in the church, but we all have the opportunity now to reach out to Christ, and develop that deeper relationship.

Well, it’s taken me 3 weeks, but finally, I’m sitting down to share.

Summer 2007. What can I say? It’s been a big year!

First off, Linda and I got married. Whoo hoo! That in itself was a big step of faith. But God has been so faithful to the two of us. And seriously our wedding day was really an amazing day.

Since being married, Linda and I have grown so much in many ways. First in our relationship with each other. There’s a strong sense of intimacy and a really deep bond. Second, in our relationship with God. Third, we’ve grown in maturity.

Also during the summer 2007, I felt God confirm and solidify his calling for me. The only way I can describe it is to say that it was an “A-HA!” moment. A moment when all the pieces kind of fell into place. And now I feel like I’ve got purpose, I’ve got vision, I’ve got a goal, I’ve got a direction. Praise God.

    Surprise!!!!

I miss all of you. I loved reading your comments.

So let me tell you about my summer =) It’s been a time of deep soul-touching by God. To be honest, it hurts being under the Surgeon’s knife. But I know I’m on my way to a different place with Him. Can’t wait to come out at the other end. Speaking of coming out…

My brother Titus and sister-in-law Arlie had their baby Matthew and I am beyond thrilled to be home. I am an uncle! Even though driving into downtown Chicago is a pain, I do it because I want to hold the little boy. He reminds me of that elusive word “innocence”. And there’s a peace that fills me when he’s in my arms. He’s like anaesthesia to my current state.

I have been taking care of myself physically — eating nutritionally well and working out like a madman. (Thanks again to all the women who were concerned for my well-being and did something about it in cooking for me). I just started a killer program called CrossFit. Right now, I am severely sore. Love it. Kevin, watch out. Haha.

You are in my thoughts and I’m praying for your leadership retreat.

See you one of these days!
