Christmas Clothing Donations

December 10th, 2008

The Taidong church that we will be partnering with for our missions trip in January is in need of children’s clothes. They live in a poor community and would appreciate any clothing donations we could make. The clothing can be for kids from elementary school to senior high school. The gifts don’t need to be fancy just from your heart. If you don’t want to purchase and send clothing but would like to contribute something financially, please talk to Lydia and we can arrange a financial donation from the Pearl.

Christmas Series

December 1st, 2008

Dec.14- The World Awaits
What was the world like when Jesus was born? What were the Jewish people waiting for? What does the Old Testament tell us about this Messiah? These are the questions we’ll look at as we get ready for Christmas, which is of course a celebration of Jesus’ birth.

Dec.21- God Delivers
Why is Jesus’ birth so special? What changed because of this little baby? Messiah? Immanuel? The world would never be the same after the birth of Jesus. God delivered in a big way and we’ll look at the impact it can have on us and the people around us.

Oct/Nov/Dec 08 Sermon Series

November 1st, 2008

In the last sermon series we learned about spiritual disciplines and how to keep ourselves on task in developing our spiritual lives. In this series we’re taking a look at how that personal faith flows outward into our community (church, work, city) and our relationships. And with that how we are called to be with God on mission in this world.

We’re working to get a small group page up on the website but until then here is a rundown of the small groups we currently have. Tuesday night women’s group (Leigh), Thursday night Chinese speaking women’s group (Lydia), Tuesday night men’s group (Victor L). If you want to be a part of those groups just let us know and we’ll try to work it out. If none of those work there are also other groups starting up so if you’re interested email Chris or Lydia and we’ll try to find you a group. If you interested in leading a small group please contact us as well.

Weekly Prayer Meetings

June 30th, 2007

Starting this Sunday, June 24, the Pearl will be having weekly prayer meetings from 5:30-6:30pm before Sunday service. The prayer meetings will take place in the back of the sanctuary at church.

Join others from the Pearl in praying for God’s leading for our church, the service, the leaders, the members, and activities going on in our lives!

Needs/Gifts

May 19th, 2007

If you offered to give (financially or stuff) at last weeks service we encourage you to bring in your offerings so that we can start to meet people’s needs. If you offered services we will keep your name on file in the event that those services are needed and we will contact you. We are also passing on all prayer requests to our prayer people. It was an awesome thing to see people step up to help in their faith community. Let’s keep working at being a family in this city.

Big News

April 24th, 2007

This past Sunday Pastor Dan announced that he be would be returning to Chicago for an extended leave in order to rest and replenish his soul. After this one year leave Dan may or may not return to the Pearl. The CORE and CREW will continue to lead the Pearl as we move forward into the next phase of our church. Dan’s last Sunday will be April 29th but he will be staying in Taiwan until the first week of June. Please pray for Dan as it has been a hard decision to let go of the Pearl and pray for our church as we work our way through a time of transition.
