Who we are: The PEARL in Taipei is an English-language Christian church located in Taipei, Taiwan. Most of us are foreigners, and are in our 20’s and 30’s. We have a wide variety of jobs in Taiwan, some of us teach English, others are professional musicians, some do medical research… our interests are very diverse!

What will happen during each class: Each “class” will be different! Sometimes we’ll read something and discuss it (a magazine article or a part of the Bible). Other times, we’ll watch an American sitcom like “Friends” or “Grey’s Anatomy” and talk about it. Still other times, we’ll talk about culture in the US. Our goal is to keep the environment friendly, and encourage you to speak as much English as possible in a relaxed setting.

Why we’re doing it for free: A lot of us have been in Taiwan for several years, and we don’t know a lot of Taiwanese people. Hopefully we’ll be able to learn a bit about Taiwanese culture from you as we converse in English. Mutual learning is the key! Still more questions?
